Vilkommen. Bienvenue.

As you probably already know (unless you have stumbled upon this by chance), I keep another blog which is just a collection of whatever's on my mind and/or any tales I wish to tell. This may lead you to wonder, "Why on G-d's green Earth do you want to be starting ANOTHER blog Dani?!" (For those of you who DID just stumble upon this, that's me -- Dani.)

The reason is because my love/hate relationship with that blog is that it's a semi-public diary. Which is great and all -- but it lacks focus and thus it often falls prey to my swift-moving fingers and rambling mind.

Earlier today I was thinking about how every day there's some song which just connects with that particular day in your life. It's the song that, if your life were a movie, would provide the soundtrack for those scenes. Now I know that there are a lot of moments in a day and it's hard to sum up an ENTIRE day in but one song...that's not my goal.

What I want to do here is pick one song, just ONE song, from the literally thousands I know and love, that touches me somehow on a particular day. It can be because it suited the day, or it suited a moment of the day, or it struck an emotional/mental chord in me and made me REALIZE something I never had before, or it could just be a song which I like and want other people to like.

It doesn't matter WHY I choose, just that I'm going to pick a song, every day, for the next 365 days (maybe longer, but at least the next 365) and I'm going to post about it. I'll include my reason(s) for picking that song, some of the wonderful trivia locked away in my brain regarding it and/or the musicians involved, the song lyrics (where applicable) and a link to hear and/or purchase the song where available.

I can't make any promises what sorts of songs I'll pick (or why) as I have INCREDIBLY eclectic taste in music, as anyone who has ever listened to my music on randomize can attest.

I may also include bonus posts of reviews of musicians I go to see live on any given day. These will be sporadic and I will not post on every show I go see. But expect a few of these to show up in here from time to time as I go to many many concerts.

I think it sounds like a fun project. Even if I only entertain myself, it'll be a worthwhile endeavor.

So without further ado...I'm going to go meet up with some friends on the Terrace (an outdoor live venue by the lake where you can drink beer by the pitcher) and hope there are a few good bands playing tonight. (Last night there was a fat balding man in a woman's bathing suit, tighty whities sticking out on the rear side, torn red leggings underneath and wearing roller derby elbow pads who was the lead singer and keyboardist...I think who ever is playing tonight will have a pretty easy job being better than THAT.)

But before I go, I'll put up the very very first chanson du jour! And after I get back, I'll edit it for slightly more depth as I have a bit more I could say about it than I wrote in my quick post on my regular blog.
